6-Week-Old GSP Pups

Portraits and Snow

Ever tried to snap a perfect photo of both sides of a 6-week-old GSP puppy?…well…I have and I can tell you, it’s a tricky business! I only have 3 viable pictures out of the desired 14. THREE!! But I think I have the method down, now. So here are my 3 successful photos and hopefully i’ll have at LEAST 4 more updated on this page in the next couple of days. Those little scoundrels just want to explore everything right now!

We also brought them out into the snow for their first time this week! I got video of 4 pups before my phone ran out of memory. I know! Get it together, Linsey! Well…it is the week of Christmas so my memory was jam-packed with videos of my monsters opening presents. So hopefully I get some leeway on that count.

What’s Been Happening the Last 6 Weeks?

These puppies are crazy-friendly. They are held by a 34-year-old, a 30-year-old, a 7-year-old, a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old every day. So yeah…they know what’s up with humans. I give them baths regularly because I think it’s important for them to be desensitized to as much as possible. Plus…I LOVE watching Tally dive off the dock and into the lake. We believe that puppies can learn things super early, so we are teaching them not to bite and they’re catching on really fast! We play with their feet, tug on their ears and tails…anything we can do to desensitize. Because when your pointer is crashing through brush and gets a cut on his foot-pad or a dandelion in his ear, you want to be able to have him stay calm while you take care of him. We have put each puppy on a pheasant wing and they are all showing excitement about it. We even got the beginnings of a point from a couple of them! Anyways…it’s so fun raising this amazing breed of dog and I hope that everybody who comes home with one of our puppies is as happy with them as we are. I’m already planning next summer’s litter!

So now, on to the fun stuff. Check back in a few days for better photos!

  1. We live in Coeur d Alene and have recently transitioned our old GSP, Seamus, to the big field in the sky. We are currently looking for our next dog or dogs to join our family. We are pretty active, hiking, fly fishing, some hunting and love the out doors. We know the business and love-ability of GSP’s and are well prepared for training a working dog who also loves the family. We would like to check out your GSP’s if possible. Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.

    1. Hi, Geoff! I’m sorry to hear about Seamus (what a great name). It sounds like he lived a good life. I’m going to email you my information. 🙂

  2. Hello, my husband and i have been searching for several months for a Short Hair with not much luck. Would you be able to e-mail me if you are still breeding?
    thank you
    Missy
